club development

Our Community Sport Advisors aim to enhance the effectiveness and capability of regional sport in the Bay of Plenty in a number of ways.

We assist Regional Sporting Organisations (RSOs) and clubs to become more efficient and effective organisations to deliver sport. We work alongside them and assist to develop systems and structures that will ensure they achieve their goals and are sustainable in the future.

This includes work on strategic plans, development of position descriptions for committees, project development with councils, coach development and volunteer training. For club development resources that may be of assistance to your club please see below.

We also hold a number of interactive workshops for sports clubs and volunteers throughout the year.

Marketing your club

If you have an event, activity, workshop or class that will get locals moving, here are a few ways you can spread the word with us:

  • Events - create a free event listing for our website calendar.
  • Social media – we’re fans of Instagram and Facebook as they are the easiest way to share content. When promoting your activity with an post or story, notify us by including @sportbayofplenty. That way we are more likely to engage with your content and share via stories if suitable.
  • Activity directory – help locals to find your club or recreation activity. List for free on our directory, it’s one of the most visited sections of our website, so don’t miss out.
  • Funding – see the latest opportunities and scholarships.

Our Guide to Funding

Funding can be sourced from many different places including gaming trusts, lottery board, local government contracts and philanthropic trusts. Finding an appropriate funder can be a daunting task. Sport Bay of Plenty have developed a resource to help guide sports and active recreation clubs in the right direction when it comes to choosing funders and preparing to submit your application.
